I was initially licensed to sell real estate in Oregon in 1985 and worked out of an office in Cottage Grove. Selling residential property. Before that, most of my working life had been in the construction field. As we were still amid a significant recession, I quickly expanded into rural property (farms, ranches, and timber lands) and commercial property to keep busy and learn more about the business. I have developed a specialty practice in these fields over the years and continue to do a significant amount of work in these fields. I am a member of CID Oregon, Lane County’s commercial/investment group.
In 1992, I opened my brokerage (Gateway Realtors) in Cottage Grove, with a branch office in Douglas County. In 2000, I obtained my Auctioneer’s Certificate from the Missouri School Of Auctioneering, which has allowed me to conduct this type of sale in real estate and personal property. That same year, the Cottage Grove Board of Realtors selected me as Realtor Of The Year. I was elected as President of that organization in 2002.
Over the years, I have developed a significant consulting practice, including testifying as an expert witness in a number of court cases. I have assembled a network of seasoned and reliable professionals (lenders, attorneys, planners, brokers, builders, inspectors, surveyors, title officers, etc.) to assist me in achieving the goals of my clients.
I have written a real estate column and contributed related op/ed articles for the Eugene Register-Guard. I am working on a book detailing some exciting and humorous events I’ve experienced over the years. I have learned much and made many friends over the years in this challenging, exciting, and rewarding business.
